Earlier this year I had an opportunity to record a podcast about the alternatives to early retirement on the What’s Up Next podcast. Part of why I published last week’s monster post – a collection of past thoughts – was in anticipation of this episode dropping on Monday.
I was honored to be part of a panel that included Jessica (of The Fioneers), Lynn Marie Morski (Quit Happens), and Angela (Tread Lightly, Retire Early). Doc G and Paul Thompson are among the best panel moderators I’ve worked with – professionally or blog-wise. We had a great time sharing ideas, and learning about new concepts including Lynn Marie’s “micro quits”.
Speaking of Lynn Marie, I felt I’d walked away from a super informative micro-seminar after that recording. The next book on my list is her work, Quitting by Design. At this point in my career, with enough resources to be considered financially independent, I could explore several different avenues and perhaps even find one that best suits my interests.
At any rate, I expect I’ll be sharing more about Lynn Marie’s philosophy and approach in future posts. Angela from TLRE was incredibly insightful about the pros and cons of continuing to work but in a part-time fashion, allowing her the flexibility to do more with her family, while keeping a job she’s passionate about.
And Jessica from The Fioneers shared her journey that’s led her to Slow-FI and a true appreciation of YOLO. What an amazing community to engage with and learn from!
Now, go enjoy hearing from an amazing collection of early retirement wannabes having fun with the alternatives to early retirement. Whether you choose to job hop, switch to part-time work, slow down, or keep slinging sushi until you’re dead (that’s mine), it’s never too late to make your own path.
Cheers!
