Selling on Amazon can be a great gig for early retirement in which the retiree discovers that they’d rather be working on a project. It can also be a great gig for someone who wants to retire early and is diversifying their income streams as much as possible. Let’s take a look at some of the best tips for selling on Amazon.

Follow Amazon’s Rules

Following Amazon’s rules and policies is a good place to start with your account. You’ll gain important knowledge simply by following their rules; inform yourself of those rules and policies, and you should be ready. The Seller Central page explains all of those rules and policies in detail.

You’ll also want to stay apprised of any seller updates and selling policies. Taking shortcuts would be a mistake, and if you forget and make missteps with your account, you could face penalties or, worse yet, suspension of account privileges.

Customer Service

Selling online isn’t as easy as it looks, particularly in pleasing the people purchasing products from you. Your dealings with customers can make all the difference in the world. You want to be accommodating and go the extra mile when necessary. A customer needs to know that there is an actual person on the other side of their computer. You not only want to keep repeat buyers, but you also want to gain new buyers.

Knowing that you’re surpassing expectations is the way to gain a loyal customer following. Customers like a seller who meets their needs and makes sure that any requests are handled promptly. They also like resolving disputes and easily returning items. To make a long story short, make your customer needs a top priority.

Your Inventory

When it comes to your product inventory, you want to be a step ahead of the game. Sufficient product or products are a must, as you don’t want to run short when you’re selling online and have to relate that you’re out of stock. This could prove unhealthy for your selling relationship with Amazon. You want to stay in control of your inventory to avoid overestimating or overselling. You want to make the most of what you have put into your products.

Product Images and Descriptions

Both your product images and description of them are critical for gaining selling success. Both pictures and accurate descriptions are critical to sales and profits. Both win over the customer. Amazon does have stipulations to image listing requirements that must be met.

How you present your products has significance, and if you want your products to attract attention, they will need to be diverse and distinctive. Images, along with product descriptions, should work together to convince consumers to buy your product.

Besides listing your product’s features and specifications, you want your description to read like a story. Make sure consumers understand how the product can better them in some way or resolve a problem they may have. You’ll want to address the beneficial aspects.

Flexible Pricing Approaches

If you want to stay competitive with Amazon sales, pricing your products through several approaches is a definite plus. Whatever the progress or stage of your business, you’ll want to start by pricing items manually through Amazon Seller Central or other sites, particularly if you’re selling a few products.

You’ll use rule-based repricing to make changes that reflect how your competitors are pricing items. The goal of this system is to come up with the lowest price, which allows you to attain competitive prices.

Algorithmic pricing lets sellers specify the best price through computer-generated algorithms, which are formulated on current market standings. These different approaches allow you to change your pricing and remain competitive.

Using Amazon Tools

There are many tools that Amazon offers that are beneficial to you as a seller. Using these tools is helpful whether you’re just getting started on Amazon or have been selling for some time. In fact, the Helium 10 Amazon keyword tracking tool is one way to follow the process of both monitoring and tracking the rankings of your product or products.

Other helpful tools from Helium 10 include Magnet, Scribbles, and Trendster. Magnet helps you with keywords that optimize online traffic, and Scribbles allows you to add keywords at the front and end of your listings, while Trendster helps you to know whether your product will have continual sales or whether there will be fluctuations in demand.
