We live in a whole new world with COVID-19. However, this doesn’t mean that you should stop living. You have worked hard all your life to build a nest egg that would allow you to enjoy life. You can stay busy at home for a while, but you’re going to want to get out and live.
One of the most fun and exciting places for retirees to visit is a casino, particularly casino resorts. The following are tips for making such a trip possible during these difficult and volatile times:
Two Extremes
Every casino is different when it comes to safety precautions related to COVID-19. Some casinos will remain closed until COVID-19 passes. The problem with this move is that many people are out of work, which hurts their families. It also hurts the local economy as well as the economy as a whole.
On the other end of the spectrum are casinos that are too laid back and barely have any safety requirements. Avoid these locations. Fortunately, most casinos fall somewhere in the middle.
Taking Precautions
Before getting to those casinos, let’s cover a few precautions you should take before hitting the road. If you’re traveling with a significant other, then you want to make sure you have a box of masks for each of you. If you happen to forget those masks after you’re on the road, don’t worry. Most casinos have them at the entrance in case you need one.
You also want to remember hand sanitizer, preferably two of them that are small enough to fit in each of your pockets. Lastly, bring a thermometer. This is more for peace of mind than anything else, but if your temperatures read normal, then at least you will know it’s less likely that you are putting anyone else at risk.
Casino Precautions
You want to find a gaming casino resort that takes the proper precautions to ensure guest safety, but let’s begin with parking. When you arrive, be sure to park in an area that is far away from other cars. You don’t want to end up in a situation where you return to your car while someone is arriving and exiting their vehicle without a mask right next to you.
Remember, they need a mask inside the casino, but not in the parking lot. Therefore, you will see this from time to time. If you’re wearing a mask, then chances are you should be okay anyway, but it’s not something you want to worry about on the way home. Just make sure you park in a well-lit area.
If you happen to have a handicap sticker and you can park in a spacious spot close to the casino, take advantage of it.
When you enter the casino, wait for an empty elevator. Don’t get into a crowded elevator where the air doesn’t circulate well. When you exit the elevator and arrive at the casino entrance, there should be an area where someone makes sure you’re wearing a mask, takes your temperature, and sanitizes your hands. You want to see this because it means it gets done for everyone.
Before traveling to any casino, call ahead and ask if they wipe down all chairs and machines after someone uses them. Many casinos have implemented this policy, and it has been highly effective.
In these casinos, everywhere you go, an employee is ready to sanitize. The casinos can afford this because the crowds are smaller, which has led to the casinos shifting capital from extra table games dealers to safety precaution workers.
Conclusion
Now you have all the information you need to take an enjoyable and exciting trip to the casino. Hopefully, it will be a winning trip. That said, the only real gamble is staying home and not experiencing life to the fullest.
